Job Description
Crane Operator / Material Handler
- Load, unload, sort, and move scrap metal with a hydraulic material handler.
- Process Ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal according to grade and customer specifications.
- Responsible for keeping work areas clean and locating non-conforming scrap.
- Performs a daily inspection of crane and other equipment used.
- Performs preventative and routine maintenance and assists with major maintenance of the crane.
- Knows and follows company policies and safety procedures - properly uses safety equipment.
- Performs other duties and work assignments as needed.
- Knows the company quality policy and location of written policies and procedures.
Position Qualifications
- Experience working with ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals.
- Able to independently and accurately to grade scrap material.
- Able to work with the public and provide friendly customer service.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other teammates as needed.
Physical Requirements
Job demands include but are not limited to: bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, reaching over head, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs, and climbing ladders or stairs.
