This job involves visually inspecting propane tanks or cylinders to ensure they are structurally sound and safe for continued use by checking for damage like dents, corrosion, cracks, or faulty valves, and then documenting the inspection to certify the tank's continued use within regulatory compliance, typically performed by a certified technician who follows DOT (Department of Transportation) standards; essentially, it's a process of re-certifying a propane tank to confirm it can safely hold propane.
Physical Requirements:
Physical job demands include but are not limited to bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, reaching over head, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds, and climbing ladders or stairs.
Certification: Must be willing to complete a valid certification as a propane technician or cylinder requalifier, obtained through training at the job that comply with DOT regulations.
Safety knowledge: Understanding of propane safety procedures and handling hazardous materials.
Technical skills: Ability to identify potential defects on propane tanks and interpret inspection standards.
Attention to detail: Meticulously examining each tank and accurately documenting findings.
